Over R100,000 raised for the Animale Anti-Cruelty League at dotsure.co.za Night Walkies

Despite the wet weather, nothing could put a damper on this event. Dressed up as spiders, lions, superheroes and more, thousands of happy, tail-wagging dogs, gathered at Roosevelt High School for this one-of-a-kind event. Designed specifically for the fur-kids, pooches were treated to obstacle courses, a doggy focused photo-booth, health stations, a doggy fashion show and even paw-shaped doggie flavored icies!

The main event was, of course, the #NightWalkies! Those who bought their tickets early enough received light-up LED dog collars. Once strapped and turned on, they were finally ready to light up the night for a fantastic cause. Along the 3 km route, the dogs enjoyed obstacles, waterpoints, doggy bathrooms in the form of fire hydrants and, of course, the company of their human pets and furry friends. To their delight, every dog that finished #NightWalkies received a delicious edible dog medal.

After their long walk they had time to enjoy some delicious dog and human food from the food stalls at the main event area, while indie favorites Shortstraw entertained the lit-up crowd. The band performed their entire set, with their little pug. Sheniqua, on stage, who stole the show! As the night drew to a close, MC Martin Bester from Jacaranda FM, had the very difficult job of choosing the Best Dressed Doggy. There were so many colorful and imaginatively dressed pooches and the winning place was awarded to Roxy, a one-eyed pirate Chihuahua.

“One of the causes closest to our hearts is the well-being of all animals. That’s why we decided to host this event. A long-running partner of ours, The Animal Anti-Cruelty League, are solely reliable on funding from corporates like us and good people like you! Despite the wet weather, we were blown away by the number of pet-lovers and their fur-kids who braved the rain and came out to support this event. We’re ecstatic to announce that together we managed to raise over R100 000 for the AACL – all thanks to you! We cannot thank you enough! Thank you for supporting the event and a special thank you to our loyal family members for joining us – we loved meeting you all”, David Roache, MD dotsure.co.za.
