Wild Mongoo partners with an organisation called Azaria, meaning “God helps”, to reach women on the street and build relationships. Every Wednesday a team of missionaries and volunteers walk the streets of George and meet with, pray for, and bring these women food. Once trust has been established after multiple weeks, the team then educates the women on the opportunity for work with Wild Mongoo. The women who are ready to change their lives then get connected with Wild Mongoo.

Wild Mongoo has a holistic approach when working with these women and the spiritual aspect is crucial in our approach to healing and rehabilitation. Our team leader who oversees all the women at Wild Mongoo, full time missionary, Annalie Cable, as well as multiple volunteers from Ethnos International Missions, and various local churches, focus largely on educating and mentoring the women on a relationship with God, offering prayer, spiritual guidance, Godly counsel and the like. As well as helping the women get connected to a local church.

Wild Mongoo works with a local psychologist, Natasha Laubscher, to provide the women with psychological aid through professional counselling and providing a safe place to work through past trauma and hurt while at work. Natasha has a private space at our Wild Mongoo offices where she offers free counselling on site to the ladies.

Annalie, as well as volunteers who are experts in various fields provide training to upskill the women. The ladies start with basic skills such as learning to bead. Once they’ve mastered this, they move on to more difficult tasks such as learning to sew. We continually upskill each lady throughout the year-long programme and identify the work they most enjoy and are proficient in. When they have successfully completed the year, we help each lady find permanent jobs using their newly found skills and life skills.

Wild Mongoo offers financial management training by experts who educate the ladies on how to manage their finances and budget accordingly. Each lady also attends the B.E.S.T Small Business Training where they learn how to start their own sustainable businesses and become entrepreneurs.

Medical personnel from Door of Hope, a medical ministry, regularly visit the ladies on the upskilling programme to provide basic medical attention and advice.

We dream of a pink village of safety for abused women. It is one of our main objectives for 2023 to raise funds to assist the women we help and to provide them with a safe place to stay, while they get back on their feet.

The Wild Mongoo ladies are supplied with bi-weekly food packs, donated to Soft Landings. These food packs are graciously received and are packed with nutrients that our ladies need.

Some products made by the Wild Mongoo ladies during the course of the skills development programme, don’t pass quality control. Instead of these going to waste, we empower others by identifying a group of women wanting to start their own businesses. After completing our B.E.S.T business training, they will be supplied with their first box of stock which they will need to try to sell. We do so free of charge. With the money made, they will be able to purchase their second box of stock – and so the process continues! All profits will be retained by these women.
